The Strain Family
Ryan, Sarah and their boys at home in Germantown

Our Story

My wife, Sarah, and I grew up in Germantown and returned in 2017 to raise our family here.  Our primary reason for moving back to Germantown was so that we could send our children to Germantown schools.  Both of us attended Dogwood Elementary, Houston Middle, and Houston High (I was a part of Houston’s class of 2001, and Sarah graduated in 2000).  This fall two of our three sons will attend Dogwood Elementary (kindergarten and 2nd grade).  Our youngest son will start at Dogwood in three years.

I am a lawyer, and I have practiced in Memphis since graduating from Vanderbilt University Law School.  My focus is civil litigation, though I have counseled clients on various other matters, as well.  I have been mentored by some of the finest lawyers in the State, including my father and brother.  Those lawyers have taught me the heart of the legal profession is service – to our clients and our community.

Since moving back to Germantown in 2017, I have looked for ways to become involved in our City.  I served on the City’s Historic Commission in 2018 and 2019.  I am a 2019 graduate of Leadership Germantown.  I served on Dogwood’s PTO Board during the 2019-20 school year and have helped with the Dogwood Dads since 2018.  I am excited about the opportunity to serve our community as a member of the Germantown Board of Education and work for the continued success of our school district.
